Frescoes can be found in many historic churches, public buildings, and private residences throughout Europe, and they still being created by artists today.

 Fresco is a technique of mural painting involves applying pigments to wet plaster, allowing the colors to bond with the surface as it dries. The plaster used in fresco painting is made from a mixture of sand, lime, and water, and it is applied to a wall or ceiling in several layers to create a smooth surface. Once the final layer of plaster is applied, it is left to dry for several days until it is firm but still slightly damp.

At this point, the artist can begin painting using pigments mixed with water.
