The principal of this condenser is known in fig. Exhaust steam is condensed when it mix up with water. The condensate cooling water and air flow downwards and are removed by two separate pumps known as air pump and condensate pump.
Sometime a single pump is known as wet air pump is also used to remove both air and condensate. But the former gives a greater vacuum. The condensate pump delivers the condensate to the hot well flows to the cooling water tank through an overflow pipe.
